I have decided that one day I’d like to own a house with a cobbled courtyard and a big painted timber gate with a little door within it.

That’ll do as carrot for a few years yet.

I was most brilliantly treated to a night at Babington House last week. Amongst other delights, I adored this brick surface in their walled garden. I only wish some kind soul would deliver me a gift of some yummy bricks like these… And then lay them. Kthxbai.

I really did want my under cabinet lighting to be beautifully bespoke, and make use of the left over ply from the kitchen build. But it turns out that electric shocks really hurt, and actually I should just bloody well go and buy some lights off the internet.

Truly sad and defeated face.

I wouldn’t mind one of these at all.

Yesterday my neighbour Mel came round to chat garden. She runs Cercis, a local garden design, construction, and maintenance company - all in all perfect. I’d prepped this little collection of images - and in about 2 weeks time they’re coming back with a couple of designs. Meanwhile, I need to find a sizeable bucket of spare change… ah yes, that old story.

Lights. I bought some old tripod legs off eBay, so just need to find the right light to put atop them, and then figure out how to make it all stand up! Second challenge is bedside lighting in bedroom - no headboard yet, but when it’s made I’m thinking of clipping lights to it. That, or stringing them up a little bit like the above.

Really not sure why I’m obsessing over stairs. Mine are done I suppose - stripped of carpets, paint, glue, and nails - and then just oiled. I did want to do wondrous things to them, but by that point I just wanted the dust to stop! So danish oil it was. However, I can window dress in time.

Chairs. My fave is that blu dot really good chair, in copper....
